Underestimated Rappers

Ace Hood
Up and coming rapper out of Deer Field beach Ace Hood is currently one of my favorite rappers. His hit song into the scene was “Cash Flow” which pretty much had me hooked on his music and ive been following him ever since. His play on words and lyrics could use some work but his go hard cut throat rapping style makes up for a lot of it. He signed to DJ Khaled's “We the best” label and has been on a pretty good track ever since he has. He's been featured on a few of his tracks with some pretty good verses. Late last year he release his album “GUTTA” that to this date has only sold around 71,000, which isn't too surprising considering it his first album. He's a good rapper on the come up and I see him doing really well in the future. Check his album his new SICK single “over time” and his next album“Ruthless”.

Lil Scrappy
One of my favorite rappers that always seems to entertain me with his music. His style of rapping is always crunk and full of energy and his lyrics aren't bad either. I still go crazy over his verse on “What you gon do” . For some reason he just never seemed like the rapper that everybody would be talking about or would have a hit song on the radio. I would see him have a track on the mixtapes every once in a while that would be decent but nothing for a while to really blow my mind. Recently I read about him signing to record label DTP (Disturbing The Peace) which is the label that Ludacris and Chingy so maybe that will give him a boost to put out some better tracks and get back in the game.

Chamillionaire
Has had brief moment in the spot light that seemed to just come and go. Recently I re discovered some of his music and realized that he was actually a really good artist and very underestimated. His lyrics and rhyming are very consistent and creative. He also went through his whole last album with out using a single curse word which is very impressive. I hope to see him come out with some good tracks soon.

Destruction of Hip Hop

Soulja boy is the “hip hop” artist that everybody and their mother knows, literally. Ever since his release of “Crank Dat” there has just been a huge wave of terrible dance songs that making hip hop look worst everyday. With his 50 million views on youtube he has taken advantage of his fame by releasing his most recent songs “turn my swag on” and “kiss me through the phone”. It wasn't until the release of these songs that I realized how bad on artist he really is and all the bad things that he is doing for the hip hop community. What he is good at is making catchy stupid songs that mainstream fans manage to fall in love with. Its not just crank dat that has led to stupid fame it gets much worse. Then there was stanky leg that I can't even begin to tell you how I feel about, Ill just let the lyrics speak for them selves.

“Bitch im wild!
Do the stanky leg (3x)
when I hit the dance floor.
I be-
Do the stanky leg (3x)
Bitch Im wild up! (repeat from beginning)”

Hip hop legend Ice T has very strong thoughts on what Soulja boy is doing and made a video on youtube that just assaulted him so many different ways saying things like “soulja boy single handedly killed hip hop”, then he made a second video to fully explain what he was trying to say. Here it is-

Soulja boy immaturely responds with this 7 minute rant about Ice T's age

In the end there will always be bad hip hop, just don't rub it in our faces pretending like you are something

(I got the response orders messed up but you guys know what i saying"

Best Rock Star Alive

Best Rocker Star alive? Word is rapper lil Wayne is making a rock album before the release of Carter 4. Lil Wayne has a very strange fixation with playing his guitar at all of his concerts, and had a strange performance with kid rock at the 2008 VMAs and had a w/e verse on planet rock. Those two I can deal with but then he put out probably the worst song of his career. After hearing Prom Queen and seeing the video I had to completely reconsider what type of artist he really is and the type of fan base he's looking for. Lil Wayne has been a sick rapper since his days back in hot boyz and has just put out some insane mixtapes and killed multiple tracks with just about every artist in the rap game. It seems now that since hit songs “A Milli” and “Lolli pop” and the great success of Carter 3 hes been out to make money and has been trying to entertain this mainstream radio (MTV) crowd rather then his original rap fan base. What I am wondering is what fans is he reaching out to with this rock album. I know that the rap crowd will for sure not be buying this album and that the rock crowd wont be buying it either because its not rock. If he expects for Carter 4 to be as big a success as 3 he needs to cut the bullshit and make real music.

P.S.- Flor-rida is slipping too letting his mainstream music get to his head.....”right round”....really?, but thats another post
